Mid-Atlantic Scholarships

 

Special Love, Inc.

Assistance Provided: College scholarship to cancer survivors and students diagnosed with cancer, regardless of whether they are currently receiving treatment or not. Scholarship award ranges from $1,000 to $2,250. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the post-secondary institution or training facility in which the student enrolls. Awards will be sent in two equal installments and will be mailed directly to the recipient’s school in August and December (unless otherwise requested by recipient). Awards are intended to cover tuition and school fees only.
Eligibility Requirements:  Applicant is a current and/or past participants of programs sponsored by Special Love, Inc. in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Application Process: The application deadline is April 1, annually. Application includes one-page essay.

 

Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults

Assistance Provided: Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults provides the following $2,500 scholarships to college students over two semesters:

Application Process: 2013 application deadline is April 1, 2013.
Eligibility Requirements: Award recipient must commit to 40 hours of community service.

1. Howard County, Maryland  Resident Scholarship for a young adult affected by cancer by their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a parent or sibling. Applicant must have been 15 or older during his or her active treatment OR at the time of parent or sibling was in active treatment.

2. University specific scholarships for young adults affected by cancer by their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a parent/guardian or sibling. Applicant must have been 15 or older during his or her active treatment OR at the time of parent or sibling was in active treatment.

3. Scholarship for a resident of Maryland, DC or Virginia who has been affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a parent/guardian or sibling. Applicant must have been 15 or older during his or her active treatment OR at the time of parent or sibling was in active treatment.

4. Graduate level scholarship for resident of Baltimore/DC area who has been affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a parent/guardian or sibling. Applicant must have been 15 or older during his or her active treatment OR at the time of parent or sibling was in active treatment.
