High Plains Scholarships

American Cancer Society High Plains Hawaii Pacific Division (Guam, Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas).

Assistance Provided: $1,000 scholarships are available to cancer survivors who were diagnosed before age 21 and are 25 years old or younger at the time of application.

Eligibility Requirements:  Applicant must be a legal resident of Guam, Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, or Texas. Applicant must have been diagnosed before age 21 and be younger than 25 years old at the time of application. Applicant must be a high school senior or already in college, with a minimum G.P.A of 2.o (on a 4.0) scale. Applicant must be accepted to or attend an accredited college or university.

Application Process:  For new applicants, the application process consists of: the application, proof of residency, transcript, a copy of the applicant’s Student Aid Report from FAFSA, an acceptance letter from an accredited college , university, trade, or vocational school, a 1-2 page essay about the applicant’s goals, life experience, and community involvement including cancer-related activities, and two reference letters (one MUST be from a physician on his or her letterhead confirming date of diagnosis and type of cancer).

For repeat applicants, the application process is the same as for new applicants, except reference letters are not required.
